Life with the Wallaces

Destin {Part 2}

Thursday June 7
We started out the day with lots of sugar for breakfast {powdered sugar doughnuts}. It is vacation so everyone needs a little enjoyment, right?!

We went down to the beach for a while and tried to get her to like the beach, but she was not having it. All she kept saying was “pool”. She knew what the pool was and the beach and waves just didn’t sound fun to her.

the best part to her was getting to wash her “tootsies” in the little shower. My lens kept fogging up terribly bad but it still is a cute picture.

We did finally let her go to the pool, which she still wasn’t a huge fan of. We did find out later that there is a kiddie pool.

After we went to the beach and pool, we headed out to the outlet mall. We tried for quite some time to get her to take a nap, but she would not have it.  At the outlet mall, Morgan thought it was fun to come with mommy to try on clothes.

We enjoyed lunch at one of my all time favorites, Panera Bread. I so wish we had one somewhere near us, but then again maybe its a good thing because I would eat there entirely too much!
The playground at the outlet mall was nothing fancy, but it had a swing and slide so Morgan was all set to go!

On our way to go eat dinner, Morgan of course goes to sleep. She was getting so sleepy. It was more of a power nap because as soon as we got there she woke up. We tried to let her sleep on the shoulder method but it didn’t work out so well.

While we were waiting on our food, we took self portraits. She loves to do this and it gives us a few pictures together, so its a win-win! We ate dinner at Pompano Joes. Such fabulous food! One of our good friends introduced us to this place last year when we went. This is definitely our top pick in Destin!
You also cant beat the view. You get to sit outside and look at the beautiful beach.

It was double red flags so no one was allowed in the water.

We ended the day with a quick trip back to the outlet mall. Morgan loved wearing the sunglasses we found.
Friday June 8
We began this great Friday out very similar to Thursday except we went straight to the pool! It was double red flags so we couldn’t get in the water at the beach.

We went back to the hotel room after staying at the pool/kiddie pool for a while. We enjoyed lunch at the little cafe {nothing fancy}. We got showers and ready to head out. We took it easy and then went to eat dinner at McGuire’s Irish Pub. Its really a neat place and they also have pretty good food. Yes and on the way to dinner, guess who passed out again?! She refused to nap in the room we tried for a while. She did stay asleep on mommys shoulder until our food came out though.

If you have never been to McGuires before, what they do is place $1 bills all over the ceiling. Not sure exactly how much money is up on the ceiling, but its a lot!
After we ate, we went to try to get a family picture but it didnt work out so well. It was so windy and very hard to get one.

After the pictures and eating dinner, we decided to go to the outlet mall for a few things and to let Morgan get some energy out on the playground.

After playing on the playground, we had to wash our “tootsies” in the fountain water because we had tons of sand on them.

We called it a night and went back to the hotel and let her play with equal packets to entertain.

Saturday June 9-Final Day
We decided that since the weather was so bad, we were going to head back home {all 6 hrs home}. Chad was starting a new job on Monday and it would only be fair to allow him one day of rest before he started his new job. Then, we couldn’t do much as bad as the weather was.

Before we headed out each day, we had to take our vitamin. This morning she found the vitamins and thought she needed more than 1.

After we loaded up, we enjoyed lunch at TGIFridays. Love this place, but many have closed down.

Daddy do you see me?!

After eating lunch, I sent Chad in to get the things that I put up on hold. Well he sent me this picture of my total and I totally freaked out. It was no where near this total. He thought it would be pretty funny to give me a little heart attack. This was before any discounts at full price. We had a good laugh about it afterwards.
After this, I stopped by Starbucks and we headed out. It was not great weather at all but we survived it.

great napping weather!

We stopped in Mobile to eat dinner. Morgan took a nice little nap all the way from Destin to Mobile which was nice. We ate dinner at Steak-N-Shake.

iPad + DVD player=lots of enjoyment for a toddler!

We had to stop and get gas about an hour before we got home and she wanted to get out and drive. She did so well, I couldnt tell her no.

When we got home a little after 10, all she wanted to do was push and play with her babies. I think she missed them lots!
That concludes our trip to Destin. We did have a great time, but next year I think we may go somewhere other than the beach since Morgan hates the beach.
