No More Perfect Moms

In this world it seems like there is always a struggle being a mom. I have been looking for a great book to read lately because I need to read more {to be quite honest}. I found one that I am going to try out and wondering if anyone else is participating in it? You buy the book and then there is a Facebook group to look at the content week by week. The study begins April 16 and runs for six weeks.

I just purchased the book and look forward to learning more on how to deal with the struggles of just being a mom. If you are up for the challenge here is all the information.

MHC Easter Egg Hunt

Saturday, we had our annual Easter Egg Hunt at our church which was a big hit. Morgan (and me for that matter) have had the lovely allergies, sinus gunk and poor girl, it has made her feel pitiful. I asked her if she wanted to go this morning and she nodded her head and said “yes ma’m” so off we went. I think that every other child at the church is also battling the lovely “gunk” as I call it. I think Morgan had a great time but it sure did wear her out for sure!

she was so excited to get started hunting her eggs

she had no problem figuring out how to do it this year. Last year was a different story.

she would only pick up the pink and purple eggs. Silly girl!

she did not waste any time getting those eggs. She only collected pink and purple eggs though.

after hunting eggs, we had to decorate a cookie. Yes, she loves sugar and made sure her cookie was covered with lots of “sugar”

Then, it was off to do thumbprints on the cross. What a great thing to show different colors representing the cross. She was pretty serious when she does her artistic items.

she had to make sure her basket was on the other chair. It could not be beside her or under her feet.

it was super windy as you can tell but this was as good as it got.

A few of the kids went to test out the new playground which seemed to do just fine. They had lots of fun!

Oh how Pinteresting-Easter Activities

Also linking up with Kelly’s Korner: Show us your life favorite pinterest ideas

I must admit that I have a {little love of over 18,000 pins} to Pinterest and I know I have not participated in this link up in well a long time (last November to be exact). Since Easter is right around the corner I thought it would be about time to look through all the many activities I want to do with Morgan this year. These are only a few and feel free to go look at the others on my Easter Activities board here.

Tissue paper wreath (this one will definitely be happening since I have already bought everything for it)

Easter Bunny footprints

Textured Eggs

Paper Plate Easter Bunny Craft

Glitter Dipped Eggs looks like a lot of fun

I look forward to sharing the true meaning of Easter and also enjoying some crafts with Morgan.

Bloglovin

Recently, Google Reader has decided to do away with the wonderful website that I have grown quite accustomed to as well as many others. As soon as I heard the news that Google Reader was retiring as of July 1, 2013 I knew I had to get a reliable reader that I actually could handle. I have tried out a few others but have finally settled on bloglovin (as well as many others). If you are also a member of the ever growing Bloglovin feel free to follow along. Yes I may not post much for now, but maybe just maybe I will return to the blog world and post a few posts every now and then. If you have found a better reader than bloglovin please share or if you are also on bloglovin please share your link.

Upcoming, we are making the move to new SLR camera. I currently have the Nikon D3000 (yes I am getting rid of it). If you have any recommendations please share. We are trying to make a final decision on a camera this week (hopefully!). Can’t wait to get a new camera and really get into photography (at least to take pictures of my little girl and family)!

It’s been a while….

I am sure if you were a frequent observer to the little ole blog, you were wondering if we just disappeared and were not making a reappearance ever. Well I can not say the thought did not cross my mind to actually shut this ole bad boy down, but I did not. Life has been pretty busy lately and blogging has taken a serious major backseat. I am not going to sit here and say I will post more often because to be honest, being a teacher, raising an almost 3 year old that is sassy as can be and oh trying to throw in being a wife and cooking for your family. Well, its about all I can do some days just to survive through the day! I thought this little ole blog needed a quick run down on how things have been going since it has been almost TWO MONTHS (that is a record)!

Morgan (since she is definitely the star of the show!)

where did my baby go?!

  • She is OFFICIALLY out of DIAPERS! I think I could about shout this to anyone that would listen but yes she is fully potty trained and even doing #1 and #2 in the real potty. We had some serious issues with #2 and it took a long while to do it but she finally has gotten it and is doing great. No accidents in almost a month. Yes, one proud mom of my little girl.
  • The sass has finally hit and now some days I really think I know what everyone was talking about with terrible TWO. Some days are great and she is the sweetest most angelic two year old, and well other days we sit in time out or get a nice little spanking for our behavior.
  • She has had a major dose of it seems like anything that sickness can bring. Two rocephin shots, antibiotics, medicine and well we are finally well for once. Please Lord bring the beautiful Spring weather!
  • She has successfully mastered her colors and loves to tell us what color everything is now.
  • Her favorite TV show now is Bubble Guppies and Sophia the First (she calls it princess show). Mickey and Minnie have taken a back seat for now.
  • She had her first little dance at school and I think she had just a little fun. See below

Mommy-Amber

  • I got a brand NEW JOB on Valentines Day (it became official). To say that I am so excited would be an understatement. If there was a dream job in my field this would be it! I will be teaching Digital Media (Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver, InDesign, Apple Final Cut). I will not officially start until August but have already began the training because it is a bit different than just a normal high school position. I will still be teaching High School kids but kids will have to apply from the 4 high schools in our district and be accepted. So yes, kids will want to be in my class. I know there will definitely be some bad days just like any other job, but yes dream job here I come! This is a picture of my NEW LAB (27 inch iMac for any curious minds out there)
  • I have survived through having 3 brand new classes this semester and I have one more week until Spring Break. 5 more days, 5 more days. I can make it! After that, its 9 more weeks until school is officially OUT for the summer!!
  • I went on my first night away by myself (and other ladies) at the beginning of February. It was so nice just to enjoy ONE night. Yes, I missed Chad and Morgan but sometimes mom does need a break!
  • I celebrated my 32nd birthday on February 11. I think that officially makes me super old now. My little brother Austin celebrated his 16th birthday. Yes, that makes us 16 years apart if anyone is counting.
  • I am trying to actually cook more and learn how to cook better. Eating in definitely plays a huge role in losing weight and well it sure is much better on your pocketbook as well.

Daddy-Chad

  • He spent his first night with Morgan when I went on my little night away with our church. I think he was very terrified but they did great! They went to dinner and breakfast. Picture above is the photo I received from their first daddy daughter date.
  • Still at his college job that he loves and hopefully will never leave.

Well that is a “quick” summary of our lives the past two months. Hopefully I will make it back before the summer hits.

Christmas in Alabama {part 1}-picture overload

Friday before Christmas after I got off from school (a little later than normal, but thankful for the time after Christmas) we headed up to Chad’s family to spend Christmas with them. Morgan loves to spend time with her cousins and just have fun.

Her favorite gift by far was the all the babies she got that she had to put to sleep each night. Their newness has worn a little down now and she just likes to take them on car trips and undress them {yes my child is queen of undressing all her babies!}

she loves to tumble and roll around. Guess we need to get her started on some gymnastics

playing with paw-paw is always fun stuff

silly cousins playing

she got to go over to KK (her cousin) house and play and be silly.

KK has some new little puppies that Morgan just adored! (puppies names are Snickerdoodle and Saban-yes after AL’s coach)

getting a piggy back ride from KK

Morgan, KK, and Aunt Sara. Morgan is always one curious little girl!

she was a pro at unwrapping this year! No help at all.

checking out what KK got for Christmas

chad’s grandmothers reaction to her gift that we gave her (canvas of the 4 grandkids)

one of the many baby dolls she got

Lauren was pretty excited with her Hello Kitty hair dryer we gave her.

KK was pretty happy with her gift as well

setting up the babies

Aunt Cindy had to see if KK would fit in the box (it was all KK’s idea)

Morgan wanted her turn as well to try to fit in since it looked like so much fun.

one of my gifts was the SEC cookbook (that has fabulous recipes by the way). The men were checking it out to see if it passed the test (haha!)

giving a zerbert to Aunt Sara

you can’t go wrong with a little ring around the rosy

she had to try really drinking out of babies little sippy cup she got. It seemed to work perfectly!

good bye hugs to Maw-Maw

bye-bye Paw-Paw

Uncle Tony

KK was last

Morgan was a bit disappointed she didn’t get to ride daddy’s car (aka the 4 wheeler) since it was so cold, but other than that a good time.
